Dr. Beck,

As a DC who stresses the necessity of tracking office statistics (and doing it correctly), I must say that it is refreshing to hear another reiterate exactly what I have told countless Chiropractors in the past...net profit and ROI are paramount to know. I also wanted to commend you on NOT saying PVA which is in fact a completely meaningless number but has unfortunately been drilled into the subconsious mind of most DCs as one that actually has meaning and superseeds all other stats. PVA is not only a statistically useless calculation with absolutely no worth, but it has mislead countless DCs over the years resulting in significant damage to both their practice and their finances. I may just add that one other number which is always overlooked yet is a very powerful and enlightening calculation to purform is that of the actual cost in real dollars for each treatment provided. In doing this calculation which is simply the total overhead divided by the total number of treatments provided, the DC truly realizes that every single time they provide a service, they are in fact taking a set amount of money out of their pocket and giving it away for the privaledge of providing that service. By putting things into this perspective, most DCs will rethink their fee structures or at the very least, hopefully stop giving their services away.

Yours on purpose,
Dr Darrin Groleau

P.S. if you want to know a 100% accurate representation of the exact number of visits you will get from a single practice member over any given time period, feel free to reply to this e-mail and we can discuss PVA or patient visit average which is a number I teach to my clients.
